Abstract
VHE (1012 eV) and UHE (1015 eV) gamma-ray emission has been reported (1) from the x-ray source Cygnus X-3, as well as from several known x-ray binaries, including Her X-1, LMC X-4, Cen X-3 and 4U 0115 + 63. These observations, if subsequently found to be statistically significant, imply the acceleration of high energy cosmic rays in these sources. In this paper, we discuss briefly some of the models so far proposed for cosmic ray acceleration in these sources.
