Abstract

In this chapter we shall discuss spacecraft operations, and how they are supported by the mission designer. Mission design precedes the operational phase, but its sole purpose is to ensure the success of the operational phase. Spacecraft operations are the active implementation of mission design. As the two activities are generally carried out by different people, close liaison and co-operation between them is essential.
