Abstract
Petrogenesis of detrital sediments is a somewhat elusive exercise. Some of the difficulties which arise are concerned with the nature and kind of measurements performed; whereas others are inherent in the genetic processes which generate detrital sedimentary rocks. It is concluded that to elucidate the genesis of a typical detrial sediment it is necessary to obtain a sample set of events (including the tectonic background) which gave rise to the rock.
“In computability theory, the analysis of algorithms, led to the disclosure of incomputable functions — and confirmed the fact that there is no escape from Goedel’s undecidability, even for an idealized computing machine.”
Bernhard, 1969
