Abstract

Throughout chapter 6 we consistently applied one important simplification or restriction, by confining our discussion to motion in one dimension only. This clearly prevented us from studying some of the most interesting and important problems in dynamics. In the course of the present chapter we shall free ourselves of this restriction and in the process show the energy method of analysis to still greater advantage.
