Abstract
An international study set out to develop an improved conceptual system for explaining effective behaviour, especially achievement behaviour; to build reliable measures of the components of that behaviour; to develop and apply the measures internationally; and to validate the measures and the concepts against objective criteria of achievement (Peck et al, 1981).
