Summary

A method of aerobic stabilization in the solid state of partially dewatered sewage sludge in the form of filter-cake pieces has been pointed out. The process includes a brief treatment (11 hours long) with pure oxygen in a closed system followed by ripening through the conventional windrow system. The resulting product is hygienically safe and richer in nitrogen in comparison with other composted sewage sludges.
