Abstract

In 1907, W. Sampson Handley (1) presented a lecture before the Royal College of Surgeons of England entitled ‘the pathology of melanotic growths in relation to their operative treatment’. Handley’s view of the wide-excision was published in the Lancet and was excepted all over the world.
