Abstract
Between 1974 and 1981, scientists at the Roche Research Institute of Marine Pharmacology(RRIMP) in Dee Why (Sydney, Australia) carried out an intensive study of biologically active chemical substances from marine flora and fauna with the aim of finding new compounds which were suitable for therapeutic medical and veterinary applications. One aspect of this work was the screening of extracts from marine plants for potential antibiotic compounds.
