Abstract

The most important factors influencing the safety of concrete slabs are the nonlinearity due to the cracking of concrete, the geometric nonlinearity after the great deflection of the slab and the compressive membrane force developing in the cracked state. The cracking of concrete has a great effect on the working safety in the service limit state. The geometrical nonlinearity and the compressive membrane action affect mainly in the ultimate limit state of the slab.
