Abstract

Field and laboratory tests have been carried out in order to investigate the liquefaction potential of an overconsolidated Plio-pleistocene sand deposit on the coast of the southern North Sea, where due to the fabric of the sand both types of testing were kept as simple as possible. This contribution describes practical lessons which have been learnt with respect to the appropriate techniques for this specific topic of investigation as compared with conventional British geotechnical investigation practice.
