Abstract
The use of high pressure techniques in studies of the kinetics of inorganic substrates is still relatively new with the majority being conducted over the last ten years. A short review of these data was written in 1974 by Stranks (1). The method has been used almost exclusively to aid in the elucidation of reaction mechanisms of transition metal complexes. Thus the volume of activation, ΔV≠, derived from the pressure dependence of the rate coefficient (Eq. (1)), supplements the existing, and more commonly used enthalpy and entropy of activation.
