Abstract

In Northwest Russia two versions are considered with regard to the building of an underground depository for solid radioactive waste and used nuclear fuel on the Kola Peninsula and Novaya Zemlya Archipelago. One is provided by N.N. Egorov, Deputy Minister of Atomic Energy in Murmansk and the other by the Contact Group of IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) Experts devoted to international projects concerning “radioactive waste management”.
