Abstract

A satisfactory model for the origin of cosmic rays must explain the many facts which are known about these particles and quanta. In the present work the nucleonic component is the main concern, particularly those particles above 1012eV. The form of the primary spectrum at these energies is briefly examined and then the relative merits of a number of origin models are studied. The paper does not aim to be comprehensive; instead attention is confined to those models with which the author has been concerned.
