Abstract
Only two percent or less of the nitrogen oxide pollutants are released by industrial production and the use of nitric acid, but local problems in the vicinity of a plant could arise. Absorption methods, catalytic reduction and adsorption in solids are possible methods in cutting down the NOx concentrations in the tail gases. Catalytic reduction is the only commercial method for achieving low concentrations at the present, but molecular sieve adsorption is likely to compete in the future.
