Abstract
Using NASA’s Kuiper Airborne Observatory (KAO), we have measured lines of [SIII] 19 and 33 µm, [Felli] 23 µm, [OIII] 52 and 88 µm, [NIII] 57 µm, and [NII] 122 and 205 µm arising in the unusual HII region Sgr A West at the Galactic Center. The emission is consistent with photoionization of the low density (~1000 cm-3) cavity gas, but the N+ emission could arise predominantly in the higher density “mini-spiral” ionized streamers unresolved in our beam.
