Abstract

This paper describes a project management tool aimed at monitoring software reliability during the testing and debugging phase. It uses software reliability modelling techniques to make predictionson project completion times and the resource usage required to complete the project with the required reliability. The tool aims to be of use to project managers and software engineers withvery little background in reliability theory. It also eases the task of failure data collection by the provision of suitable utilities. The tool represents one of the first integrated software reliability systems to incorporate data gathering and analysis for an MS-DOS environment and helps close the gap between software reliability theory and application.
