A Model of Extra-Focal Radiation

Abstract

Recall from Chapter 2 that the energy imparted to the intensifying screen has primary, scatter and extra-focal components:

$$ E_{pse}^{imp} = E_p^{imp} + E_s^{imp} + E_e^{imp}$$

In order to generate h _int we need to find the primary component:

$$ E_{p}^{{imp}} = E_{{pse}}^{{imp}} - E_{s}^{{imp}} - E_{e}^{{imp}} $$

Chapter 2 explained how we compute $E_{{pse}}^{{imp}}$ and Chapter 3 explained how we can estimate the scatter component $\mathop E\nolimits_s^{imp}$. In this chapter we show how to model and estimate the extra-focal component $\mathop E\nolimits_e^{imp}$.
