Abstract

This paper provides guidelines for improving the speed-noise trade-off for double correlated sampling of CCD video signals in astronomical applications. Only the dual slope integration method is considered since this is the most popular for CCDs with conventional output sensitivity(< 2.5 uV/e-)Emphasis is placed on reducing readout time at little or no expense to noise in the 50 to 200 Kpixel/sec regime where a significant fraction of the pixel time can be taken up by processes other than integration on the signal.
