Correction of complete atrioventricular canal in infancy

Abstract

Correction of complete atrioventricular canal in children was put on a solid basis by the work of the Mayo Clinic group1 The results of surgery in older children are improving2, 3. However, a number of patients with this lesion present early in infancy and die in intractable heart failure. The survivors are at risk of early development of pulmonary vascular obstructive disease.
