Abstract
Many excellent and traditional textbooks of surgery have been written on the principles of diagnosis of acute abdominal disease. It is, therefore, not intended to repeat information which can be easily obtained elsewhere. This chapter is not intended as a comprehensive guide to the acute abdomen, but emphasizes the diagnostic features and management of commonly occurring diseases.
