Abstract
This Chapter offers an account of the pursuit of problems. Since it has been assumed that scientific discoveries are the novel solution of certain important scientific problems, and scientific research is the pursuit of these problems, we are attempting an account of scientific research. We shall also be particularly interested in instruments or strategies in scientific research that guide or facilitate the solution of scientific problems.
