Abstract
The method for generating assembly plan oriented tolerancing presented in this paper enables the systematic breakdown of a functional requirement, given in dimensional, shape and position specifications. It uses graphs to choose the geometric specifications and the Technologically and Topologically Related Surface (TTRS) concept to define the model for the parts. This method is composed of two principal stages. Functional requirements are identified by assembly level from the path of a DFC (Datum Flow Chain) oriented graph, representing part positioning principles. They are then associated with TTRS modelling in order to achieve the expression of vectoral tolerancing and translated to comply with ISO standards. A specific case from the aircraft industry is presented to validate our approach.
