Abstract

Under gradient heating there appear new specific phenomena in the behavior of composites [2, 46], which are investigated in this chapter. As an example, the behavior of composites is considered for textile materials. At first, the one-dimensional problem of one-sided heating of an ablative composite plate is investigated. In actual plates of finite dimensions under gradient heating, there are bending stresses in addition to transverse stresses, so the statement of a plane problem of composite thermomechanics is then considered. Finally, the problem of bending of a cantilever plate under the combined action of a pressure difference (or a bending moment) and of one-sided heating is solved, and a load-bearing capacity of the plate is determined.
