Abstract

One area of CARA’s attempt to support academics outside of Iraq while working to respond to urgent challenges facing the country has been in the area of health. This chapter explores key dimensions of an attempt to build a research and intervention project through harnessing mobile health technologies to respond to the urgent health imperative of diabetes. Perhaps more than other areas, this project highlights both the possibilities but also the challenges faced in our attempt to build new types of research intervention in a context shaped by the legacy and ongoing realities of war.
