Abstract
When I first considered the idea of moving to Japan to teach English, I was expecting the content of my courses to focus predominantly on a combination of the four language skills (i.e., reading, writing, listening and speaking). However, at my current university the emphasis of the overall curriculum is to prepare our students to become global citizens as they develop their language skills.
