Abstract
The l-borneolum is similar to the commonly used medicine, borneol, which has an polar opposite optical rotation. It was originally from the Compositae Aenean Blumea balsamifera (L.) DC (Ai Na Xiang). The plant resources of borneol are known as the “woody incense,” and the plant resources of l-borneolum are known as “herbal fragrance.” It is considered that woody incense is better than herbal fragrance, so l-borneolum’s usage is not as common as borneol. Because of large demand and short supply of borneol, l-borneolum will also keep a high demand in the clinical application.
