    Note that to be consistent with the current literature on deformation and creep fracture, the symbol Q (with appropriate suffixes) is used to indicate the various activation energies.

  2. 2.

    Exceptions are when cavity sizes are very small, close to the critical size for stability, or in precipitation strengthened steels, if the intrinsic creep strength of the matrix is approached. These processes are typical of very low \( \sigma \) levels. These are not considered in this chapter.
