Abstract

Bioprosthetic valves, such as porcine aortic valves and bovine pericardial valves, have provided favorable long-term outcomes thanks to the recent development of an anti-calcification treatment. The improvement in long-term outcomes for bioprosthetic valves has particularly been remarkable in the elderly, and thus it has emerged as an extremely reliable surgical technique in clinical practice except for patients on dialysis.
