Abstract

More attention has been paid on the phenomenon of NO and N2O accumulation in the process of denitrification by the researchers. For example, the typical aerobic denitrifying bacterium P. denitrificans LMD 92.63 produced only N2O under the condition of a saturated dissolved oxygen concentration of 95% (Arts et al. 1995); strain P. denitrificans JCM 20620 released N2O as the final denitrification product as long as O2 is present (Miyahara et al. 2010);N2O had been produced by the strain Alcaligenes faecalis TUD, which accounted for 5% of the total nitrogen removal under the condition of 5% saturation dissolved oxygen concentration (Otte et al. 1996). In recent years, a number of aerobic denitrifying bacteria have been successfully separated, but the quantitative analysis of accumulation of NO and N2O has rarely been reported (Wan et al. 2011; Yang et al. 2011; Yao et al. 2013).
