Abstract

Bronchoscopy may be limited in terms of direct endobronchial visualization of farther bronchial subsegments. Therefore, it is necessary to study the computed tomography (CT) images prior to examination in order to count the number of bronchial bifurcations from the trachea before reaching the lesion. It is often difficult to imagine three-dimensional endoscopic images from the two-dimensional images on CT. Virtual bronchoscopic navigation (VBN) system mechanically indicates the route to the target lesion.
