A spectroscopic study of blazars at medium resolution. Observations of PKS 0521-36, PKS 0537-44 and PKS 0823-22

Abstract

A spectroscopic study of blazars at medium resolution (λ/Δλ ≈ 500 to 2000) is being carried on aimed at: ί) determining the yet unknown redshift of a sizable sample of objects through detection of weak spectral features, either in emission or in absorption; ίί) monitoring intensity and profile of the broad emission fines present in selected objects, in order to investigate their correlation with continuum intensity. Preliminary results obtained on PKS 0521-365, PKS 0537-441, and PKS 0823-22 are presented.
