Abstract

Urban geology is a relatively new branch of the earth sciences that came into being in the past fifty years. This paper deals with the availability of data in urban areas, site investigations, and the correlation of engineering geological data in cities. Recent developments in the field of urban geology are: the growing awareness of the discipline among geoscientists, the developments in project acquisition and the overall automation in municipal administration. Some recommendations are given at the end of the paper.
