Abstract

We have discussed the validity of the nuclear structure approach to the nucleon-nucleus optical model potential and shown that it is essentially a low energy approach. The calculated nucleon-alpha and nucleon-calcium 40 potentials have some sensitivity on the choice of the effective nucleon-nucleon interaction. An attempt to derive the alpha-nucleus potential within the same approach has been proposed. With simplifying assumptions it provides some global informations on the absorptive part of the α-40Ca potential and could be of some help for the analysis of experimental data.
