Leadership Development in Emerging Market Economies

Abstract

This chapter discusses six levels of leadership as part of managerial competency model implemented in a Thai private sector organization. Results of the study showed that leadership is a competency required from all employees, yet with different specific competencies required for different levels. Leadership competency requirements varied from self-leadership for operators to visionary leadership for top management. Results contribute to the existing literature on multidimensionality of leadership and can be applied in many human resource functions such as career development, training and development, and recruitment and selection.
