Abstract
P’u-yi, born February 11, 1906, succeeded his uncle the Emperor Tsait’ien (reign title Kuang-hsü), November 14, 1908, and adopted the reign title Hsüan-t’ung. He is the son of Tsai-fêng, Prince Ch’un, brother of the late Emperor. The Regent of the Empire is Prince Ch’un. The rule of succession is that a son or nephew or male relation of the next younger generation designated by the Emperor just deceased shall succeed.
