Part of the book series: Rethinking Peace and Conflict Studies ((RCS))

Abstract

Following the military humanitarian intervention in Kosovo in March 1999, a new ‘moral [international] imagination’1 was born. It promised a better world in which human rights would be respected, encouraged and exercised. Indeed, no one better than the solidarists used the concept of humanitarian intervention to argue that a better world was on the horizon. This book argues that claims of a better world will remain nothing more than ‘imaginary’ unless the workings of the international economic order are included in the analysis of humanitarian intervention.
