Abstract

The working poor are individuals working but still in a poor household. It is a complex concept, combining poverty, measured at a household level (less than 60% median equivalized net household income), and employment, measured at an individual level (paid employment or selfemployment as the main activity in at least 7 of last 12 months). The level of working poverty (or in-work poverty, IWP) and factors behind that level have been investigated in different European countries using household data from the EU-SILC survey.
