Abstract

After a successful first step of launching the renminbi (RMB) internationalisation programme, what are China’s next steps for broadening and deepening the process? This question is all the more important in light of some experience that shows that the RMB’s being a trade settlement currency might not be a sufficient condition for achieving currency internationalisation (see Chapter 4).
