Abstract

The idea that prophetic predictions provided by oracles and inspired by the gods could be adopted in proving Christian dogmas dates back to Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages. In the Renaissance, the discourse significantly enlarged because of previously unknown sources and new interpretations.
