Abstract
A thorough understanding of cardiovascular physiology is essential for proper management of congenital heart disease. The clinical evaluation and treatment of neonates with a suspected congenital heart disease is challenging given the unicity and complexity of the neonatal cardiac physiology. A proper understanding of these principles and how they directly and indirectly affect treatments is important to guide clinical decisions. This chapter describes the basic principles of neonatal cardiovascular physiology and presents the most relevant clinical features of some common congenital heart diseases.
