Brad J. Bushman is a Professor of Communication and Psychology at The Ohio State University and a Professor of Communication Science at the VU University Amsterdam (The Netherlands). For over 25 years, he has studied the causes, consequences, and solutions to the problem of human aggression and violence. He is a member of President Obama’s committee on gun violence and has testified before the US Congress on the topic of youth violence.

Early Life and Educational Background

Bushman was born on May 14, 1960, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He earned his B.S. in Psychology from Weber State University in 1984, an M.Ed. in secondary education from Utah State University in 1985, an M.A. in psychology from the University of Missouri in 1987, and an M.A. in statistics from the University of Missouri in 1990. He earned his Ph.D. in social and personality psychology from the University of Missouri in 1989 under the direction of Russell G. Geen.
