Abstract

Hydrocephalus is a frequent presentation to pediatrics, radiology, and clinical neuroradiology with surgical intervention often required to divert CSF. The role of the neuroradiologist is critical in understanding the difference between congenital and acquired etiologies and advising on subsequent management. A robust neuroradiological imaging strategy is required to obtain all of the relevant information and allow identification of any associated findings, particularly in hydrocephalus secondary to congenital malformations. Recognizing potential genetic causes can help clinicians counsel families.
