Definitions
Hydropower plant is construction for generating electricity by conversion of hydropower into electric energy.
Solar photovoltaic power plant is a construction which uses photovoltaic cells, known as PV or solar cells, to convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity, which needs to be converted to alternating current (AC) electricity.
Introduction
Due to the rapid global population growth, an increased amount of electricity is required to meet societal needs. Reliable electricity is a vital necessity for rural communities which allows these local economies to function correctly. The lack or even the occasional disappearance of the electric energy distribution in rural and urban areas has negative impacts on quality of life and education in these areas and leads to poorer public health outcomes and gender disparities.
