Zusammenfassung

Das Immunsystem dient der Abwehr von Mikroorganismen, Toxinen und neoplastischen Zellen. Reagiert das Immunsystem überschießend auf ein Antigen, kann dies den Organismus gefährden. In diesem Fall liegt eine Hypersensitivität (syn. Atopie, Allergie oder allergische Diathese) auf. Anaphylaktische Reaktionen, d. h. akute und lebensbedrohliche Hypersensitivitäten, treten intraoperativ bei ca. 1:13.000 Allgemeinanästhesien auf. Auslöser sind am häufigsten Muskelrelaxanzien und Latex sowie Antibiotika. Prophylaxe und Therapie werden in diesem Kapitel erörtert.
