Zusammenfassung
Das Lymphsystem stellt neben dem arteriellen und dem venösen Gefäßsystem die dritte Dimension dar und dient ähnlich wie das venöse System der Entsorgung des Körpers von u. a. großmolekularen Stoffen, Bakterien und Viren. Bisher existieren allerdings über Funktion und Physiologie des Lymphsystems noch relativ wenige wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse. Besteht ein Missverhältnis zwischen Angebot und Abtransport lymphpflichtiger Substanzen, so kommt es zum Lymphödem.
Im Folgenden soll Stellung zur Einteilung der Lymphödeme, Entstehung und Manifestation genommen werden, die konservative Therapie beschrieben und Versorgungsprobleme aufgezeigt werden.
