Zusammenfassung
Eine Wurmerkrankung oder Helminthiasis wird durch eine Infektion mit parasitischen Würmern ausgelöst. Je nach Art des Befalls kann es sich beim Menschen um einen Zwischen-, End- oder Fehlwirt handeln. Würmer sind langgestreckte, oft in Segmente gegliederte, beinlose niedere Tiere. Die Systematik der Würmer ist uneinheitlich. Aus dermatologischer Sicht sind folgende drei Unterstämme von Bedeutung: Rundwürmer (Nemathelminthes), Plattwürmer (Plathelminthes), Ringel- oder Borstenwürmer (Annelida). Klimatische Faktoren, mangelhafte Hygiene und bestimmte Ernährungsgewohnheiten begünstigen vor allem in subtropischen und tropischen Ländern das Vorkommen zahlreicher durch Würmer bedingter Infektionen des Menschen, die oft auch mit Hauterscheinungen einhergehen. Im gemäßigten Klima ist die Zahl parasitärer Würmer beim Menschen begrenzt, doch werden Wurminfektionen häufig übersehen.
