Introduction

Given the considerable focus on creativity as an attribute of value in a wide range of different contexts, understanding of creativity in different subjects and areas of activity may be vital in informing the design of effective educational systems and related pedagogical practices. Exploring the relationship between creativity and domain – the understanding of creativity in particular contexts and the extent to which creativity is considered as a domain specific or domain general attribute or ability – this entry considers the current position with respect to the research. Once revered as an almost mystical property, primarily associated with remarkable individuals and particular areas of human activity, creativity is now understood in more nuanced terms and considered more visible and ubiquitous.
