Geological structures are features left behind from crustal movements, such as faults, folds, joints, tectonic plates, suture zones, rift valleys, volcanic arcs, back-arc basins, platforms, grabens, horsts, blocks, tension faults, shear faults, compressional faults, latitudinal structures, longitudinal structures, Cathaysian and neo-Cathaysian structures, xi-type structures, epsilon structures, chess board structures and flower structures. All of these structures form important geological features in geoparks and have become attractive landscape tourism resources.
