This is a type of ecological landscape distributed in the tropics with periodic dry and wet seasons. It is composed of drought-tolerant tropical evergreen and deciduous broadleaf trees. Seasonality is significant, and most of the trees shed their leaves in the dry season. Compared with tropical rainforests, trees in tropical monsoon forests are shorter with fewer species and a simpler community structure. The dominant species are more obvious, and buttress roots and the cauliflory phenomenon are uncommon. Climbers, epiphytes and parasitic plants are also rare.
