Changchengian Period

The Changchengian Period is the first geologic period of the Mesoproterozoic Era in China. This geologic period extended from 1.8 billion to 1.4 billion years ago, a duration of 400 million years. However, recent dating data indicate that the lower limit of the Changchengian Period was not older than 1.65 billion years. The Changchengian System includes the rocks that formed during the Chengchengian Period. The standard section of the system is located in Jixian County, Tianjin. The Changchengian System quartz sandstone is the material basis of the Zhangshiyan landform.
